The tourist office in St Christophe en Oisans – La Bérarde offers a tour leaving "Les Etages" lasting 5 days around La Bérarde.

At each step between mountain huts, the wardens invite you to discover their territory and their treasures.

This Tour is aimed to experimented hikers who want to have freedom of walking and discovering the heart of the Ecrins National Park.

Day 1 :

• Leaving from "Les Etages" (2km before La Bérarde) heading to the Refuge du Soreiller by La Montagne d'en Bas
• Time : 4h30
• Altitude difference : 1122 m uphill climb.
• Dinner and dormitory accomodation at the hut.

Day 2 :

• Leaving from the refuge by the classical way down to Les Etages.Then you enjoy the beauty of the Veneon River until La Bérarde before starting the climb reaching the Refuge du Châtelleret, close to the foot of the imposive Meije south side.
• Time : 6h30
• Altitude difference : 1122 m downhill walk and 635 m uphill climb.
• Dinner and dormitory accomodation at the hut.

Day 3 :

• Leaving from the Refuge du Châtelleret to the Refuge de Temple Ecrins via La Bérarde.
• Time : 4 h 30
• Altitude difference : 519 m downhill walk and 697 m uphill climb.
• Dinner and dormitory accomodation at the hut.

Day 4 :

• Leaving from the refuge for following the Veneon river and reaching the Refuge de La Pilatte, in front of the North side of Les Bans and the Pilatte Glacier.
• Time : 4h30
• Altitude difference : 415 m downhill walk and 582 m uphill climb.
• Dinner and dormitory accomodation at the hut.

Day 5 :

• Option : Introduction to mountaineering from the hut.In supplement.
• Leaving from the refuge and back to La Bérarde via le Vallon du Chardon. Final arrival in Les Etages.
• Time : 4h30
• Altitude difference : 1033 m downhill walk and 100 m uphill climb.

5-day Tour with 4 nights, no guides (except in the Pilatte's option) on a full board basis.
Dormitory accomodation, picnic for lunch and warm dinner in every hut.

Possibility of leaving some luggage and changes of clothes at "La Maison de la Montagne", having a shower at the camping (addional cost)

Introduction to mountaineering on 5th Day

95 €/pers for a group of 4 people. No supplied equipment.

Terms of sale :

• Prices do not include drinks or personal expenses.
• Full-board includes breakfast, lunchtime picnic, evening meal and accommodation in dormitories or bedrooms.
• If the circuit is undertaken without a guide the Tourist Office cannot be held responsible for any problems with directions.
• All bookings are firm upon receipt of the deposit of 50% of the total cost. Cheques are to be made out to the Office de Tourisme Ecrins Haut Vénéon..
• For cancellations, notification must be made by mail, the date at which notification is received is the date at which the cancellation will be considered. The deposit will be reimbursed for all cancellations received at the latest 15 days before the departure date.
• Customers must agree to take out personal insurance for the mountain outing on offer. The Tourist Office will on no account be liable to pay costs or accept the consequences of any accident during the activity.
• The Tourist Office, the Gîte de Plan du Lac will not be held liable for any damage or theft to property, goods or vehicles.
• Customers are responsible for judging the capacity of each participant and their children.
